Since they contain natural melatonin (influences sleep patterns), cherries can actually work wonders in putting you to sleep. All you need to do is consume raw cherries or raw cherry juice a little while before bedtime and you'll feel the difference in your sleep patterns. But sleep isn't all that cherries are good for.
Cherries Are A Natural Anti-inflammatory & Sleep Aid. Cherry’s have been confirmed in several studies to be anti-inflammatory and help to increase sleep duration as well as quality, which makes them nature’s own anti-inflammatory sleep aid. University of Extremadura researchers conducted a study on 30 participants: ten between the ages of 20-30, ten between the ages of 35-55, and ten between the ages of 65-85.
A study by Russel Reiter of the University of Texas Health Science Center found that cherries contain a significant amount of melatonin, and that eating cherries each day can aid in a good night’s sleep. Melatonin may also help fight jet lag, which is often experienced when traveling overseas or coast to coast.
